Kelly Clarkson expressed her gratitude to whom it is due and proved that there is no bad blood between her and husband Brandon Blackstock even after she filed for divorce from him. On winning her first-ever Daytime Emmy awards for The Kelly Clarkson Show, The Voice coach thanked Blackstock.
Clarkson received nominations in two Daytime Emmy categories this year: Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show for her self-titled daytime show and Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host for her. The winners were announced virtually because of the coronavirus pandemic.
As soon as the winners were revealed, the "Since U Been Gone" singer took to Twitter to scream her joy for the new recognition. She thanked the show's crew for helping her out and she also did not forget her husband of seven years.
Kelly thanked Brandon for convincing her to do The Kelly Clarkson Show almost two years ago. Blackstock happened to be Clarkson's manager as well. The first season of The Kelly Clarkson Show beat out daytime talk shows Live With Kelly and Ryan, The Talk, Maury, and GMA3: Strahan, Sara & Keke in the same category.
Netizens praised Clarkson for being true and honest about her feelings and extending gratitude to her husband. The singer filed a divorce from Blackstock earlier this month. She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
In a court filing, the American Idol champion requested that she not be required to pay Blackstock spousal support but asked for joint legal and physical custody of their children. The ex-couple share two children together: daughter River, 6, and son Remington, 4. Clarkson returned in Los Angeles with her kids after self-isolating at her ranch in Montana with Blackstock.
The "A Moment Like This" hitmaker also teased fellow The Voice coach John Legend that she would get her EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscars, and Tony) status, too, in the future. So far, Clarkson has Emmy and Grammy. Legend, on the other hand, has won all four awards.
Meanwhile, Clarkson made her first public appearance since the divorce filing. She participated in the telethon for Project Angel Food, an organization in Los Angeles that provides healthy meals for those in need.
She thanked the organization for keeping its doors open for those vulnerable to the virus and provided food for them. The singer also did a cover of U2's "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" during the telethon. The telethon also featured other celebrities such as Elton John, Sharon Stone, Annie Lennox, Jamie Lee Curtis, Olivia Newton-John, Kelly Osbourne, Billy Idol, and more.
