The news about Brad Pitt and Harry Styles filming a movie together lasted only for a few hours. Representative of Angelina Jolie's former partner immediately denied the rumor and, just that, fans' anticipation for the movie was crushed hard.
The buzz about Pitt and Styles starring in a film together came from the website of Vértice Cine. The movie distributor claimed to have scored rights for the movie Faster, Cheaper, Better at the virtual Cannes Film Market recently.
The company posted casting news along with photos of Pitt and Styles on its website. Naturally, news outlets picked up the information and it quickly trended on Twitter.
For starters, Faster, Cheaper, Better is about how human workers will be replaced by robots and drones. As per its IMDB synopsis, the movie will particularly focus on four men whose lives turn upside down when automation and artificial intelligence transform the world as we know it. The four men are a union foreman, a young entrepreneur, an indoor farm executive, and a tech billionaire.
In the end, they would have to face the reality of a world that depends on AI and find the meaning of being human. Dan Gilroy will helm and pen the script for the movie. He is best known for Jake Gyllenhaal's Nightcrawler and also directed Denzel Washington in Roman J. Israel, Esq.
In a Deadline interview in June, Gilroy said the movie will be set in multiple locales. It will follow the lives of several characters and how they will interconnect with each other as they deal with the AI domination that affects their livelihood. It was also reported at the time that the movie was already casting its characters.
Gossip Cop noted that many believed the supposed casting details even though it appeared on the film distributor website and not on the film studio that will do the movie. It turned out as false information. Vértice Cine hasn't made a statement yet about the matter.
For now, fans of Brad Pitt could at least see him in the virtual table read of the 1982 film Fast Times At Ridgemont High. He will participate in the live stream of the star-studded event on August 21 along with his ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston, Sean Penn, Morgan Freeman, Julia Roberts, and Matthew McConaughey.
As for Harry Styles, his song "Watermelon Sugar" is still dominating airwaves and topping the charts. It hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated August 15. This made him the fifth British artist to reach Number 1 in the U.S. but not in the UK. The last English artist who did that was Adele.
