Paris Hilton revealed that she had miserable teenage years. The socialite made a confession about the mental, emotional, and physical abuse she endured after her parents sent her in boarding schools when she was a teenager.
In the sneak peek for her upcoming YouTube documentary titled This Is Paris, she recalled her days in Provo Canyon School in Utah. She revealed the struggles and pains she had the moment she stepped in at the said boarding school.
In an interview with People Magazine ahead of her documentary premiere, Paris opened up about the reasons why her parents sent her to boarding schools. She said her parents, Rick and Kathy Hilton, were so strict that it made her want to rebel more.
Paris said they would punish her by taking her cell phone and credit card. However, all of it didn't work as she would still sneak out to party with friends.
In an effort to stop her rebellious behavior, her parents decided to send her to boarding schools that were supposed to focus on behavioral and mental development. One of the last schools she attended was Provo Canyon School. She was 17 at the time.
The Simple Life star said people assumed that she has an easy life because she comes from a wealthy family and she never talked about her terrifying experience during her teen years. Paris said Provo was far from being a school.
The House of Wax actress admitted that each morning was a nightmare for her. Hilton said the Provo staff was horrible. She accused them of bullying her and implementing damaging forms of punishment to their students including solitary confinement.
The 39-year-old model/actress added that there was also physical abuse such as hitting or strangling the students. Paris said she believes that the school's main goal is to instill fear into their students so that they will obey them.
Paris Hilton left Provo at the age of 18. She kept her mouth shut about her experience at the boarding school because of shame and trauma even though she suffered from panic attacks because of it.
Three of Hilton's former classmates in Provo also appeared in the documentary. They echoed Paris' allegations and added that they were also often force-fed medication and held down by restraints as punishment.
People reached out to Provo for comment on Hilton's allegation. The school, however, said it cannot comment on the operation of the school at the time Paris was there because the owner of the school sold the school in August 2000 to its new owner.
Paris said she doesn't intend to pursue legal action against Provo but she wants to make sure that no more child would experience the same torture she went through. Instead, she wanted schools like Provo to shut down.
Paris Hilton added that she is also planning to watch her documentary with her parents. This Is Paris will premiere on YouTube on September 14.
