If Phoenix Would Say Yes, Devin Booker Will Boost Sixers’ Embiid-Simmons Tandem

Breaking up the Philadelphia 76ers tandem of Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons has been the subject of speculations in the past months, presumably to lit the fire on the team's campaign for an NBA title. The perception was the two Sixers amounted to a mismatch and playing together is not helping the team's cause. Or the pair just needed a boost.

That appears the proposal floated by Paul Hudrick, who reported that as things stand for the Sixers, they "desperately need shot creators and shot makers." A quick scan of the team's current roster will tell Philadelphia will need to look elsewhere to fill the void.

Hudrick pointed to the Phoenix Suns, advising that Sixers scouts take a hard look at Devin Booker, who is young and certainly has the basketball chops to win NBA rings if only he can be paired with players with the caliber of Embiid and Simmons.

"There may not be a player that would be a better fit in the entire NBA with Simmons and Embiid than Booker ... Booker checks both boxes at an elite level," Hudrick wrote for NBC Sports.

It makes sense for the Sixers to pursue a scenario that will bring Booker to the City of Love. The shooting guard is a rising force in the league. He is 23 and that age level fits perfectly with the expected career timeline of both Embiid and Simmons.

In other words, Booker coming to the Sixers will make the team a serious title contender and possibility will make a run for an extended time, Hudrick reckoned.

Booker could be the missing link for the Sixers to start building a franchise, which will position the team to contend with the league leaders, perhaps as early as next season.

Fadeaway World agreed with the proposition made by Hudrick. There is no denying that if Booker is acquired by Philadelphia, it will be like the team will floor the pedal. He will be an explosive addition.

"For Philly, it would bring in a third star that would raise their ceiling 10-fold. The fact that he can shoot and does everything Embiid and Simmons can't makes this trade ideal for the Sixers," the report said.

The Phoenix star, however, is not an easy acquisition. It will cost the Sixers to make a convincing argument to Suns GM James Jones. But the Sixers can start a good conversation on the matter by putting two All-Stars on the table, and that would be Tobias Harris or Al Horford.

Hudrick said Booker going to the Sixers is hard to imagine but the Sixers can tempt further by topping the Harris or Horford offer with a few interesting draft picks.
