Mike Tyson continues to garner interest online, something that started when the former boxing champion posted several clips of him in training. Several names have surfaced as possible opponents, one of which is former rival, Evander Holyfield. But it appears Iron Mike will not be facing an actual boxer (by profession) but someone from the mixed martial arts scene. He goes by the name of Tito Ortiz, someone who needs no further introduction.

In a report from TMZ Sports, the 45-year-old mixed martial artist bared that he was offered to fight the former boxing champion. He did not provide details and mention the name of the person whom he talked to. Ortiz only mentioned that the person is connected to Tyson, a call made while he was watching the 53-year-old's training videos. Ortiz welcomes the fight and says it is something that could rake in big money. In fact, he feels that it could even do double the numbers produced by the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor tiff.

"Has Tyson been punched in the face in the last 15 years? No, he hasn't. And I have and I've been able to subdue everyone I've competed against over the past four years," Ortiz said.

Tyson previously said that he would only be facing someone who was really a boxer. He feels that it would be a disrespect to the sport if he faced one who is not into it. In the case of Ortiz, he may not be a boxer by profession but does box. Apparently, boxing is part of his training regimen. He is confident that he can give Tyson a good fight if ever it does get done.

Ortiz last fought in 2019 in MMA action. He faced Alberto El Patron (aka Albert Del Rio) at Combate Americas 51: Tito vs. Alberto. The Hall of Famer won the match via submission, adding El Patron to his list of victims. Prior to that, Ortiz held victories over fighters such as Chuck Lidell and Chael Sonnen.

Tyson has yet to react to Ortiz's claim although he mentioned revealing his opponent soon. What seems only sure right now is that he will not be facing Holyfield who has been also busy training with plans of returning to the ring. Tyson made the revelation to Lil Wayne when he appeared on the "Young Money Radio" show recently.

“We’re in calls, we’re doing business with guys right now. You’re not going to believe the names when the names come out. Sometime this week we’ll have the contract done," Tyson said.
