Cobra Kai season 3 is happening but not in YouTube Premium anymore. While it is one of its biggest original shows due to its tone and comedic theme, the action-comedy drama may probably have its new home as it will be moved into another streaming platform.

Deadline previously reported that Sony Pictures TV has been discussing the future of the series. Although YouTube seemed to be interested in Cobra Kai season 3, the platform does not want to continue doing it beyond that -- largely because of their migration away from original scripted content.

Sony Pictures TV, on the other hand, wanted to find Cobra Kai season 3 a new home. It seems like the studio is interested to keep the show going and have the longest run possible. At the moment, nothing is confirmed when it comes to its new platform, but Netflix and Hulu are the best candidates.

Since most platforms and networks have a lack of new scripted content right now because of the real-life health crisis, they're likely eager to look for new and completed projects. Thus, Cobra Kai season 3 may have a chance to end up either with the mentioned platforms.

The series has still a lot to offer, and even though it had a good run on YouTube Premium, it's still nice to see it airing in a proper streaming platform. Furthermore, the former isn't known for having scripted TV shows, and may people out there probably have no idea that the series exists.

The show may have the chance to build more viewers over time if ever it will be moved into another platform. But wherever the series may end up, CarterMatt noted that the new installment will likely drop its new episodes this late summer.

The renewal of Cobra Kai season 3 was announced during the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con. The filming has likely started last year as well, so new episodes are possibly finished now. As for the story itself, co-creators Hayden Schlossberg, Jon Hurwitz, and Josh Heald aren't revealing too much about it. But according to Heald, the new installment is all about "rebuilding" and "rehabilitation."

He teased that there's been an explosion and the storylines that were "inextricably linked" will be severed. The goal of the third installment is to see what can and can't be repaired and how will people respond to what happened. Those who have seen the season 2 finale will likely understand what Heald means about the explosion.
