It has been confirmed that Tom Cruise will be filming a movie in outer space in collaboration with NASA and possibly with SpaceX as well. Details of the film have yet been revealed but there were already speculations that Cruise is allegedly planning to look for aliens in outer space rather than doing a movie.

Woman's Day published a story this week suggesting that Cruise's upcoming movie at ISS is more of a PR stunt for the Scientology Church rather for his artistic quest and making filmmaking history. The tabloid alleged that the Mission: Impossible actor is planning to do the movie to impress the higher-ups of his church in the hopes that he would become its leader someday.

Woman's Day quoted Jeffrey Augustine, a known Scientology critic, as saying Cruise is going into space to improve his stand in the church as its first astronaut and space explorer. Augustine also alleged that the inside talk within the controversial organization is that Cruise perhaps secretly meeting with the late Church of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard in space or the extraterrestrial race.

Gossip Cop noted that Scientology is known for its roots in science fiction because of Hubbard's previous work as a science fiction writer. It added that Augustine is not the only one who is doubtful and has been criticizing NASA and SpaceX for teaming up with Cruise.

Tony Ortega, another Scientology critic, said any involvement with Cruise will result in countless new ads and interest to his church. Ortega claimed Cruise's movie will be a timely boost for Scientology after facing negative publicity from high-profile defectors over the years.

On the other hand, Karen De La Carriere, Augustine's wife and was previously married to Scientology president Heber Jentzsch, is a bit less concerned about the news of Cruise's movie. She thinks of it as a publicity stunt for the actor, NASA, and SpaceX.

De La Carriere added that the outer space filming could have appealed to the Top Gun actor since it is in the doctrines of Scientology. She said Scientologists believed Hubbard's teachings which are based on intergalactic galaxies that have galactic emperors.

Gossip Cop noted that Augustine, Ortega, and De La Carriere could be true with their observations about Cruise's outer space movie. However, the outlet noted that it remained doubtful about Woman's Day's story about the actor trying to look for aliens to improve his position in the church.

Gossip Cop noted that Woman's Day has a reputation of using Cruise's involvement with Scientology in making up stories that also often have to do with his ex-wife Katie Holmes and daughter Suri.
