'The Umbrella Academy' Season 2 Opening Scene Pits The Siblings Against Russian Soldiers

There is much excitement over The Umbrella Academy Season 2. After all, it has been over a year since the first season ended and fans can't wait to see what happened to the Hargreeves siblings after they went back in time to prevent the apocalypse.

But, will they be able to stop it in the second season? The opening scene from Season 2's premiere episode immediately explodes into action as the Hargreeves take on Russian soldiers with shocking results.

In the previous season finale, the other Hargreeves siblings were not able to stop Vanya Hargreeves as she ends up destroying the moon and kickstarting the end of the world. However, Number Five had an idea that he believed would prevent the apocalypse.

He decided to gather his siblings so they could go back in time and stop their impending doom. Although they managed to go back in the past, the opening scene for The Umbrella Academy Season 2 suggests that it wasn't such a good idea.

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 opens with Number Five stumbling into an alley after the time jump and realizing he ended up in the past on the date November 25, 1963. It's not a happy sight as he discovers Russian soldiers are all over the place and a newpaper confirms that the Soviets have attacked the United States.

Although Five arrived alone, it is revealed that the other Hargreeves siblings are already in action, fighting against the soldiers in their own special way.

The first one who is shown is Ellen Page's Vanya Hargreeves who is now the White Violin. She manages to make a cannon implode while Klaus summons dead soldiers to take on the opponents. Luther is also in action, this time shielding Klaus from an explosion as Ben uses his tentacles to throw down several enemies. Meanwhile, Allison tells some soldiers that she heard a rumor that she blew their minds, something that happens immediately while Diego brings down several more of their enemies with one move.

Although it looks like the Hargreeves siblings are saving the day, someone suddenly shows up to prevent Number Five from joining them. An older Hazel zaps into the timeline and tells Five that he needs to leave immediately or he will die from the nukes.

Five hesitates, stating that he has to save his family but Hazel tells him that he can't save his brothers and sisters if he is dead. This convinces Five to leave with Hazel as the other siblings watch the nukes explode.

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 airs on Netflix on July 31.
