Park Bo Gum Quietly Enlists In The South Korean Navy

Park Bo Gum quietly enlisted to the military yesterday to fulfill 20 months of mandatory service.

According to a report by Soompi, although Park Bo Gum chose to enlist in a low key manner, his close friends still made an effort to wish him well.

His Reply 1988 buddy, Go Kyung Pyo, posted a photo on his Instagram, showing Park Bo Gum relaxing by the ocean. The actor simply captioned the image with a thumbs-up sign to wish his friend good luck.

Lee Dong Hwi chose to showcase a different side of his friend and posted a video of himself and Bo Gum goofing off behind the scenes of the Reply 1988 set. He wished his friend safe health until they meet again when he is discharged.

According to his agency, Blossom Entertainment, Park Bo Gum's application to serve at the Navy Band was accepted. He will be joining the culture promotion unit of the Navy upon his enlistment.

The agency, also, confirmed that Park Bo Gum completed several projects prior to his enlistment. Among the projects is the drama Record of Youth, where he will star alongside Parasite actress Park So Dam and Byun Woo Seok.

He will play the role of a model who struggles to find success as an actor. Park So Dam will play the role of a makeup artist who  goes through challenges by keeping a positive outlook.

Park Bo Gum will, also, star in two film projects with Goblin star Gong Yoo. The first is the sci-fi film Seo Bok, where he plays the role of a human clone who possesses the secret to eternal life. Gong Yoo plays the role of an ex-intelligence officer who must protect him.

Their second project Wonderland, which centers on an artificial reality experience. Park Bo Gum will play Suzy Bae's boyfriend, who is trapped in a coma. Gong Yoo will play the role of a man who is mourning the loss of his wife.

In a recent interview, Park Bo Gum shared that he was excited for all three projects to come out because they showcase different sides of his acting.

He said that he wanted to try out different genres to challenge himself as an actor. The projects enabled him to push his boundaries to meet his fans' expectations.

The actor said that he was confident that he did well in the three projects. Park Bo Gum is expected to be discharged sometime in April 2022.
