Future iPhone models should integrate Apple Watch's water-ejection system, according to industry analysts.

The state-of-the-art water-ejection system is one of the best and important features of the Apple Watch Series 2. The technology helps protect the internal components of Apple Watch, making it completely waterproof. The feature is so beneficial that industry analysts say Apple might just add the feature in future models of iPhone.

The Apple water-ejection system uses the watch's speaker to expel water that may seep inside the device. The speaker vibrates and produces specific sounds that help push the water out from the device. This is particularly useful when you use your Apple Watch when swimming or during a shower. The iPhone can also benefit from this feature for similar reasons.

According to Patently Apple, a blog that dissects the latest Apple technologies, future iPhone models might integrate the water-ejection feature as the Cupertino-based company registered a patent in 2019, which shows exactly just that. The US Patent and Trademark Office recently published the new Apple patent. The water-ejection system is a standard feature on Apple Watch.

In Apple's new patent, illustrations show an iPhone with a built-in water-ejection system similar to the one used in the Apple Watch Series. The technology uses the device's speaker along with a sensor module covered in hydrophobic coating designed to repel water. Its integration makes the iPhone more waterproof, not just water-resistant, and also helps prevent damage to the speakers in case liquids seep inside the device.

The patent's description states that the water-ejection system can expel many types of liquids, including saltwater, freshwater, gases, and many more. It can also detect traces of saltwater crystals on the device's acoustic mesh barrier. Analysts say that Apple should integrate the technology on the iPhone soon and not only on an Apple Watch.

Aside from the Apple Watch, however, the tech-giant does not seem to have any plans of including the water-ejection system in iPhone models scheduled for release this year. Industry analysts know that Apple submits hundreds of patents year after year but not all of them are used on an actual product.

You can see in action how the Apple Watch water-ejection system removes water from the iOS device. There is a stunning video on the Slo Mo Guys channel on YouTube, showing just how it works. Some users in the comments section even said that iPhone should have the same feature. In the video, the water-ejection system efficiently removed the water that managed to seep inside the device after its owner dove into a bathtub and splashed around wearing the Apple Watch.
