It looks like Ewan McGregor will be putting on the Jedi robe again very soon. The lead star of the upcoming Star Wars series focusing on Obi-Wan Kenobi has just revealed when he will start working on the highly anticipated Disney+ show.

There is little doubt that people were delighted when it was confirmed last year that Ewan McGregor will return as Obi-Wan Kenobi in a new Star Wars series that would air on Disney+. After all, there were initially plans to work on a standalone movie about the Jedi Master similar to Solo: A Star Wars Story but the project was ultimately scrapped. Luckily, Disney and Lucasfilm have reconsidered the idea and decided it would work better as a limited series.

So when exactly can fans expect to see the Obi-Wan Kenobi series? For now, the show has not yet been given an official release date. However, Ewan McGregor confirmed that he will start working on the highly anticipated Star Wars series early next year.

Ewan McGregor was recently a virtual guest on The Graham Norton Show where he was asked to share some details about his upcoming Star Wars project. Although the Birds of Prey star didn't spoil anything, he did confirm that the series will begin production in the first quarter of 2021.

"We start shooting it in March next year," McGregor revealed. He also admitted that original Obi-Wan Kenobi actor Alec Guinness was a huge influence on his portrayal of the character as a young man, having watched the late actor's films as a form of research. On the other hand, he is most excited about revisiting the role since it will give him a chance to portray Obi-Wan more similarly to Guinness.

"This time, I will be much closer in age to him and it will be my challenge to sort of meet him somewhere. It's a great honor to try and pretend to be him," McGregor said of Guinness.

Ewan McGregor is the only actor confirmed to appear in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. The Mandalorian director Deborah Chow has also signed on to work on the eight episodes of the show. With that in mind, Star Wars fans already have great expectations in the project.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series will begin production in March 2021 but the Star Wars show has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
