Tesla CEO Elon Musk must be brimming with pride, yet again, and he certainly has reasons to brag about his company's unending stream of superlatives. And the latest that Musk can celebrate is the impressive rating bestowed by the U.S. Environment Protection Agency (EPA) to the 2021 Tesla EV lineup with the Model 3 grabbing attention.

Per the ratings issued by the EPA for the 2021 Tesla models, it was the Model 3, which is the company's most popular EV offerings, which boasts the most improvements in terms of efficiency. The sedan, specifically the Long Range variant, now has an MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent) rating of 134, up from the 121 MPGe carried by the previous build.

The EPA grade applies for both city and highway driving condition and reflects the enhancements that Tesla made on the Model 3 for the 2021 series. And the high energy efficiency rating thankfully translates to a longer driving range. The standard Model 3, for instance, is now able to cover 263 miles.

The numbers get better with the more expensive Model 3 variants, CNET said in a report. The Model 3 Performance edition clocks up to 315 miles while the Long Range can go as high as 353 miles. But what is truly impressive about the Tesla sedan is the fact that the car delivers power performance and high efficiency in one package.

That is a win for both the environment and the end-users. On Tesla's part, the impressive EPA grades serve as confirmation that the automaker is miles ahead of the competition. One proof is that even the Model Y SUV saw a slight uptick in MPGe, coming from 121 to 125 for the latest builds.

If comparisons are made now, it's easy that Tesla is reigning supreme in the EV market segment. In the EPA rating alone, the company continues to win high ratings from the regulatory agency while rival players are figuring out how to catch up.

It is quite clear that Tesla is the dominant EV company and is years ahead, according to Electrek. The favorable EPA ratings indicate that Tesla is setting a fine example for the industry.

For the other electric vehicle makers, Tesla's efficient car models point to the key elements of top-notch EVs. These all-electric cars need to boast of high driving range, faster charging speed, and reasonable charging cost to be labeled as efficient EVs.

Now it seemed ideal that soon enough other automakers will match Tesla's string of innovations in the EV industry but as things stand, Musk's outfit will likely be leading the way for some time.
