Golden State Warriors Get Offers, No NBA Team Close To Getting Deal Done
The Golden State Warriors have already gotten a lot of offers for the rights to the no. 2 pick of the 2020 NBA Draft. Unfortunately, no deal has piqued their interest. There is still time left for NBA clubs to offer something tempting but may have to act fast. The 2020 NBA Draft happens on Nov. 18, meaning most clubs have roughly a week to convince the Dubs to agree to a deal.
No less than Briand Windhorst confirmed on “The Jump” that the Dubs have already gotten different offers for the rights to the second overall pick. So far, none have convinced the Dubs to agree to a deal. If no deal comes their way, Golden State is likely to use that privilege and pick at the 2020 NBA Draft. James Wiseman remains the popular name to be selected although they could always opt for LaMelo Ball or Anthony Edwards. That hinges a lot on who the Minnesota Timberwolves plan to select on Nov. 18.
Several teams have expressed plans of possibly moving up the 2020 NBA Draft. That includes the Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons and the Oklahoma City Thunder, ESPN reported. Aside from those clubs, the Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks and the New York Knicks also have plans to move up. Of those teams, the Bulls, Pistons and the Knicks may have some advantage since they are selecting inside the top 10 of the draft.
Without alteration, the Bulls pick fourth, Pistons 7th and the Knicks 8th. Ball is coveted by Chicago and New York so both clubs could be busy trying to get a deal to work in the coming days. The Minnesota Timberwolves are picking first but are also open to deals for the first overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft.
For the Dubs, a player or a future pick could sway them to agree to a deal. The Knicks are the team that makes more sense although it still depends on who they can package. Aware that the Dubs may go with Wiseman, the logical choice is to offer someone like Mitchell Robinson along with the rights to their 8th overall pick.
If the Dubs do go down, the wise money is for them to possibly get Deni Avdija or Onyeka Okongwu. This is assuming that both players are still available by the time the Dubs pick at a lower position in the 2020 NBA Draft.
