Jill Biden makes a name in fashion as she continues to don iconic sartorial pieces. On Saturday, she wore an Oscar de la Renta dress for which she received praises and commendations on social media. Hours following the event, the Republic World reported that the dress "sold out" online.

The former Second Lady joined the U.S. President-elect on stage after he made his acceptance speech. Reports described the dress as a "midnight blue" mid-length short-leave piece that features floral embroidery.

The dress costs $5,690 but the online outlet, The Outnet, that sold the dress placed it for only $1,707. Despite the expensive price tag, the stocks immediately dried up after netizens expressed their adoration and love for the dress.

Jill Biden paired the look with a matching mask, according to Footwear News. She, also, completed the look with a pair of Jimmy Choo's Katience pumps.

The brand's creative director, Sandra Choi, told the publication that it was a "huge honor." She added that this was "even more so" as the event is an "important moment in history." These are some of the moments when you "pinch yourself."

Reports continued that the incoming First Lady's choice of dress appears to be a "homage" to the previous First Ladies of the United States. Insider recalled that Oscar de la Renta has a long history of dressing the wives of the previous U.S. Presidents.

Aside from Jacqueline Kennedy's iconic dresses from the same brand, de la Renta, also, designed fashionable pieces for Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Reagan, and Michelle Obama. The late fashion designer has since become the "designer of choice" for most First Ladies, allowing his legacy and ties to the White House to "solidify."

Jill Biden's choice to wear the designer's piece could be seen as "symbolic," as well. Reports noted that alongside the nods she gave to the legacy of de la Renta, as well as the former First Ladies, she, also, seemingly took her place "as one of them" in an informal way with the use of the dress.

In the case of Melania Trump, she does not appear to have donned dresses from the designer. But, several publications pointed out that Ivanka Trump wore de la Renta's designs on "multiple occasions."

In Style, later on, released a report about Jill Biden's fashion statements. The publication believes that the word "FLOTUS" will get a rebranding once the former Second Lady arrives inside the White House.

It is, also, added that Biden's "messages" through fashion appear to have radiated "positivity," unlike the one before her, a statement that subtly references Melania Trump, who, reportedly, manifests "immaturity."
