The highly anticipated Moon Knight series is moving forward pretty rapidly. The new Marvel Cinematic Universe show has just added The Magnificent Seven star Ethan Hawke as its main villain. But which comic book baddie will go up against Oscar Isaac's Marc Spector?

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Ethan Hawke will be joining Marvel's Moon Knight series in an undisclosed role. However, it was revealed that the Sinister actor will portray the main villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series.

But who will Ethan Hawke play in Moon Knight? The report suggests that he might have been cast as "Moon Knight's archnemesis" who "is a villain named Bushman, a fellow mercenary who turned on the hero when Egyptian gold came into the picture."

Roald Bushman is the best possible option for Ethan Hawke to play right now. After all, he is Moon Knight's oldest nemesis and technically the reason why Marc Spector got his powers in the first place. If the Marvel Cinematic Universe series will cover the hero's origins, there is a good chance that Bushman will be the villain he will be dealing with.

But will Ethan Hawke actually play a Marvel villain with a supernatural streak? There are also speculations that the Training Day star has actually been cast as Jack Russell aka Werewolf By Night. Jack is a likely candidate considering that Moon Knight debuted in his comic book. In addition to that, the character's Marvel Cinematic Universe debut could tie Marc Spector to another major project that is currently in development.

In the comics, Werewolf By Night is associated with the Midnight Sons, which happens to include Moon Knight and Blade. If Jack Russell shows up in the Moon Knight series, he could serve as a possible connection between Marc Spector and the vampire killer.

Moon Knight will star X-Men: Apocalypse star Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector, "an ex-Marine turned mercenary with multiple alter egos to being a conduit for the Egyptian moon god Khonshu." The show's episodes will be directed by Mohamed Diab, the Egyptian helmer behind Middle Eastern drama Clash, as well as Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, the indie filmmaking team behind the sci-fi horror movie The Endless.

For now, Moon Knight has not yet been given an official production start date or an official release date. However, the series is already expected to begin filming this year and could premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2022.
