WWE Has Crazy Idea For Wrestlemania 37, Keeping Tabs With Super Bowl LV
Wrestlemania 37 may be months away and to this day, there is no telling if it will continue to be held without fans. However, it appears the WWE is considering having fans back although it still depends on several factors.
WWE chief brand officer Stephanie McMahon spoke to TMZ about plans for Wrestlemania 37 and one of them is entertaining thoughts about having people watch the WWE spectacle live once more. But before finalizing all that, she admits that they first have to see how the NFL will handle things at Super Bowl LV.
“I’m thrilled and excited because, hopefully, this will be the first opportunity for us to have our fans back in attendance," she said. "That’s the current plan. Of course, ticket information is not available yet cause we’re still trying to figure out all the machinations.”
The NFL event will be held in the same venue, the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on Feb. 7. Wrestlemania 37 is set to be held there as well on Apr. 10 and 11.
"We're going to learn a lot from [the NFL] logistically, etc., and really best practices, what works, what doesn't work. But man, we can't wait to come in and for two nights, really rock that pirate ship," McMahon explained.
Despite the ambitious plans bared, the 44-year-old added that health remains their priority. McMahon is aware that coronavirus cases continue to surge in the US. The United States now has 24.253, 361 cases and 401,370 deaths as of Jan. 20 according to Johns Hopkins University.
Though COVID-19 vaccines are already out, it remains to be seen if this can address the growing coronavirus cases numbers. The WWE has had its share of cases, including one that left WWE champion Drew McIntyre in quarantine.
McIntyre is expected to be in one of the main event cards with Bill Goldberg likely to be his opponent. Another is WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns whose opponent has yet to be made clear. A better picture of who the Tribal Chief may face may be known at the 2021 WWE Royal Rumble on Jan. 31.
Reigns is set to face Kevin Owens once more although the names of Daniel Bryan and Shinsuke Nakamura have been teased. There could be another top opponent in the fray – possibly the winner of the 30-man battle royal happening at the end of the month. There are WWE stars missing in action so a surprise could be coming at the pay-per-view.
