Fans Bash Wheel Of Fortune After Contestant Loses Because Of Minor Technicality

Fans are once again up in arms against "Wheel of Fortune", this time, it's over a minor technicality that resulted in a contestant losing even after answering the game's crossword round correctly, according to Daily Mail Friday.

David Pederson was on the cusp of victory on Wednesday's episode, but lost big because he added this one word: "and".

Pat Sajak, the 74-year-old host of the long-running game show, warned Pederson, "Don't add anything."

With only two missing letters on the board, Pederson took his shot at the puzzle by answering "sole, flounder, cod and catfish."

Sajak replied, "No, sorry. That's not right," and another contestant then answered correctly by listing the same fish but without "and."

Naturally, Pederson appeared upset - and he was not the only one.

Fans rushed to social media to express their frustration, mocking the game's rule that once again resulted to an unnecessary loss.

"@WheelofFortune just change the dumbest rule ever and allow this," Decider quoted a fan as commenting on Twitter.

"Wheel of Fortune's draconian rule where you lose if you add 'and' to the crossword puzzle has to go," another tweeted.

Still, defenders hit back against the criticism, with one user commenting "Pat says in the very beginning of the crossword puzzle 'do not add any words'. He stresses it very strongly. What's the issue with following the rules to win?"

"Rules are rules," tweeted user @phillyrj. 

The game show's representatives did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Wheel of Fortune player Kristen Shaw lost almost $2,000 in cash prize and a trip to Nashville in 2019 after she also added 'and' to her crossword puzzle answer.

Despite the loss, Pederson went home with $1,000.
