Former Playboy Model Dangles $2,700 Reward For Missing Bunny

Police said one of the largest bunnies in the world has been stolen from its home in central England, according to Fox News on Wednesday.

At four foot three inches and wearing around 20 kilos, Darius, a Continental Giant breed, holds the Guinness World Record for being the longest rabbit alive.

He went missing on Saturday night, the West Mercia Police said. They did not elaborate on why they thought it was a theft instead of an escape.

"Darius is quite unique in the fact it is 4ft in size and has been awarded a Guinness Record for being the biggest rabbit in the world," WMP said in remarks quoted by ABC News.

The animal's owner, former Playboy model and rabbit breeder Annette Edwards, 69, tweeted about her missing pet on Sunday.

She initially offered a $1,370 reward, but tweeted Tuesday: "Please Please I am so upset Can you bring my Darius back I am putting the reward up to 2,000 pounds ($2,748)," Rome Sentinel reported. 

Edwards wrote that her bunny was now too old to breed, and begged for the thieves to bring him back. "Very sad day," she tweeted.

Edwards has owned more than 100 rabbits as a breeder and has owned the world's longest bunny since 2008. After she retired from modeling in 2004, she took up dog and rabbit breeding, the Daily Mail said.

Continental Giants, which cost £5,000 a year to keep, date back to the 16th century, when they were bred for meat and fur.
