'Car Guy' Biden Says 'This Sucker's Quick' After Taking New Electric F-150 For A Spin

U.S. President Joe Biden went for a test drive of Ford Motor Co.'s latest Lightning pickup, trailed by the Secret Service.

Ford previewed its new all-electric F-150 Lightning during Biden's unscheduled stop at the company's Rouge facility in Dearborn, Michigan, earlier this week.

"This sucker's quick," Biden, wearing aviator sunglasses, said after the drive.

Asked by reporters if he would buy one, Biden said he would and also thought he went from zero to 60 miles an hour in about 4.3 seconds. A Ford representative said that information was classified until the official launch.

Biden then did a hard acceleration from a stop and hit 80 miles an hour. "OK, here we go, ready?" he said.

"My name is Joe Biden and I'm a car guy," he said as he took the stage in front of the Lightning at the factory.

Biden's quick tour of the Ford assembly line comes as part of his push for widespread adoption of electric vehicles in the U.S. That push comes with a number of investments in charging stations including a move to make the entire federal fleet electric in the coming years, according to Road Show.
