A California mom has been arrested and is now facing 39 criminal charges related to her hosting parties for her teenage son and his friends. The mom reportedly encouraged attendees of the parties, most of whom are minors, to get drunk and have sex.

Shannon Marie O'Connor was arrested in Ada County, Idaho by police and is now awaiting extradition to Santa Clara County. The 47-year-old mother is facing charges such as child molestation, giving alcohol to minors, and misdemeanor counts of sexual battery. O'Connor works as an administrative assistant for Aruba Networks, a subsidiary of Hewlett Packard.

Santa Clara County District Attorney investigator Christina Hanks said O'Connor had held parties with young boys and girls at her home in Silicon Valley and other places. In one party, O'Connor allegedly handed a boy a condom and then locked him inside a room with an intoxicated girl.

At another party during New Year's Eve, O'Connor allegedly watched as five 14-year-olds had drunk teen sex. One girl was reportedly sexually assaulted during the incident. Court filings also showed that O'Conner had forced a drunken teenager to have sex with a drunken 14-year-old girl inside her home. One teenager told prosecutors that she was so drunk at one of the parties that she nearly drowned in the hot tub.

"It took a lot of brave children to come forward and to untangle this deeply disturbing case. As a parent, I'm shocked," District Attorney Jeff Rosen said.

Investigators found that O'Connor had held at least six major parties for teenagers between June 2020 and May 2021. One of the largest parties was a Halloween gathering at her home in Los Gatos. There were reportedly as many as 20 teenagers at the party.

O'Connor reportedly held the fact that she held such parties from her husband. She also reportedly bullied a teen who had told other people about her parties.

Some of the teens that had come forward had told prosecutors that the parties were so wild that some of them had blacked out or vomited heavily. Some even sustained injuries such as concussions and a broken finger. O'Connor reportedly also allowed one teen without a license to drive her car.
