Former Vice President Mike Pence condemned Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's decision to indict ex-President Donald Trump, calling it a "political prosecution." Pence made the remarks during a speech at the National Review Institute in Washington on Friday.

Pence asserted that the majority of Americans perceive the indictment as a politically motivated prosecution by Bragg, who campaigned on charging Trump. He argued that this should outrage all Americans, regardless of their political affiliations, and emphasized the importance of equal treatment under the law.

Downplaying the allegations against Trump as a "campaign finance issue," Pence expressed his belief that the American people would recognize the situation for what it is. The 34-count indictment against Trump, issued by Bragg on Thursday, is believed to be centered around hush-money payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. The charges reportedly include at least one felony.

While Pence served loyally as Trump's vice president for four years, he later distanced himself from Trump due to disagreements over the certification of the 2020 presidential election results. Pence has also criticized Trump's actions on January 6, 2021, stating that they were "wrong" and put his family in danger.
