Royal Family Joins #ClapForOurCarers Campaign To Thank All The Frontliners, NHS Workers, Led By Queen Elizabeth II
The royal family joined the #ClapForOurCarers campaign as a move to thank all the frontliners who risk their lives to look after the sick amidst the coronavirus outbreak. Queen Elizabeth II, the Wessexes, Cambridges, and Cornwalls showed their support to all the NHS workers by giving them a round of applause as seen on their respective social media pages.
Her Majesty led the appreciation clap as the royal household of Windsor Castle made some noise and applauded from the royal residence. Her Royal Highness, along with her husband, Prince Philip, is staying in her Windsor state during the lockdown to keep her safe and avoid contracting the disease.
Aside from Queen Elizabeth, Kensington Palace also shared a clip of Prince William and Kate Middleton's children clapping for the frontliners outside their house. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took the video themselves as Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis smilingly gave their thanks to the NHS workers. "To all the doctors, nurses, carers, GPs, pharmacists, volunteers, and other NHS staff working tirelessly to help those affected by #COVID19: thank you," they captioned the clip.
Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, also clapped alongside their children, Lady Louise Windsor, and James Viscount Severn. "So from all of us, just a huge thank you to so many of you working on the front line," the Earl of Countess said. He aslo added that they all appreciate their hard work and asked them to keep up their fantastic work before they gave them a round of applause.
For the first time, Prince Charles was seen after he tested positive of coronavirus. In a series of posts on Clarence House's Instagram story, the Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, could be seen clapping separately.
The Duke of Cornwall was seemed to be in a separate room, self-isolating himself after the diagnosis, while his wife was clapping from an open window. The two were both in their Scottish home, Birkhall, during the lockdown.
According to Hello! Magazine, Clarence House earlier announced that Prince Charles is now back at work a day after he tested positive of coronavirus. The heir to the throne conducts meetings by phone and video conference as he self-isolates, following what other members of the royal family are doing amidst the pandemic.
The #ClapForOurCarers campaign started circulating on social media for a couple of weeks now, as confirmed cases of coronavirus in the U.K. dramatically increase. This move is the same with what Spain and Italy do as they thanked all their frontliners for tirelessly doing their job amidst the fears of the contagious disease.
