When Kawhi Leonard signed on with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2019, he was given the option to bring another superstar for the team's aspiration of winning the NBA title. The Clippers ended up with Paul George, who was thought to be the personal choice of Leonard.

However, new details have come out and suggested Leonard was actually thinking of luring two NBA superstars and PG was the alternative. Strangely, the information surfaced as George was deemed folding under pressure in Round 1 of the playoffs where the Clippers are trying to get past the Dallas Mavericks.

In the last four games, the forward was shooting a disappointing 29% from the floor though his efforts resulted in a decent average of over 15 points per game. Still, the numbers failed to impress the Clippers crowd and the concern only brought back the 30-year-old's forgettable stints in the postseason.

George tended to struggle in the playoff series and according to Clutch Points, the question was asked: Did Leonard make the wrong pick?

This was in light of the revelation that Leonard had initially tried recruiting other superstars to join the Clipper squad and their history showed solid postseason campaigns. The names mentioned were Jimmy Butler and Kevin Durant, and the latter is certainly the better choice.

KD already impressed while with Oklahoma City and further leveled up when he made the jump to Golden State. With the Warriors, Durant dominated all the way to three NBA Finals appearances and as reminders to his excellence, he boasts of two NBA rings and two Finals MVP.

Those achievements earned the respect and admiration of Leonard and no wonder he toyed with the idea of collaborating with KD, and in some respects with Butler as well.

For now though, those are iffy scenarios and the truth is Leonard is campaigning with PG in the season and two must make things work for a deeper run in the playoffs.

It has been tough trying to win the series against Dallas and it felt like PG cannot be counted on in the last four games. But Game 5 saw George finally rising to the occasion as Yahoo Sports reported that the "Playoff P" meter has dialed up.

The Clippers star compensated for the shortcomings of the past games and turned in 35 points, boosting his crew to a 154-111 win over the Mavericks. But most importantly, George's resurgence allowed his team to take a 3-2 lead in the series.

George said he sunk in "a dark place" in the bubble and assured he is back, and hoping too that his good run in form will continue in the remaining games. He better be to prove otherwise that his court partner, Leonard, made the wrong call.
