Meghan Markle’s Father Is ‘Very Upset’ With Daughter And Prince Harry For ‘Insulting’ Queen Elizabeth, Royal Fans Agree
After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they will be stepping down as senior royals, Buckingham Palace released a statement that Queen Elizabeth supports the couple’s decision. But just like any other choices out there, theirs also come with a price.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not only lose their HRH titles and the Duke of Sussex’s military title, but they will also be banned from using the word “royal” in their activities. The couple then showed their discontent with Queen Elizabeth’s decision.
Now, Meghan Markle’s father is criticizing his daughter and Prince Harry for their recent action. Thomas Markle said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are “insulting” Queen Elizabeth.
“I'm very upset with Harry and Meghan right now,” Meghan Markle’s father said. "They don't have a right to speak to the Queen the way they've spoken to her. I think it's an insult to the Queen and the British people."
Just like Thomas Markle, a lot of royal fans are also not too happy with how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are dealing with things after their withdrawal announcement. Many took to social media to share their disappointment with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
“Why is #PrinceHarry risking this precious bond with his grandmother and even insulting her about her jurisdictions?" one asked. “I don’t understand why Meghan needs a foundation & her Sussex title since they left the royal family? They go hand-in-hand. Now that she’s no longer a royal, she doesn’t need either. The Queen needs to strip the titles. End of story,” another one wrote. “The interesting thing is that the Harry & Meghan nonsense hasn't plunged the monarchy crisis. If anything it has strengthened people's support for Her Majesty & people don't like the way she has been treated,” the fan commented.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have already spent a lot of money trademarking the Sussex Royal brand. The couple is still using the brand for their official social media accounts as of this writing, but they released a statement that they would not be using Sussex Royal as branding any longer.
“While there is not any jurisdiction by the monarchy or Cabinet Office over the use of the word “royal” overseas, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use Sussex Royal or any iteration of the word royal in any territory, either with-in the UK or otherwise when the transition occurs spring 2020,” the statement read.
