China just made the phrase 'time is gold' a little more true-to-life with the introduction of the world's first Bitcoin-mining enabled TV set. It's not around just yet, but Canaan Creative, a company located in Beijing, has this crazy plan to let viewers receive money even while they're just watching TV shows.

In news appearing on Crypto Vest, the company's new TV set will carry the name Avalon Miner Inside. It does sound like something a computer company would name their processor, but this TV set will be able to process 2.8 trillion hashes per second. It would be Canaan Creative's second-most powerful rig, if ever, as their most powerful can process 11 trillion hashes per second.

It's not just a normal, everyday TV set either. The company is planning to create one that has an artificial intelligence (AI) that can process voice control. The TV set will connect to Bitcoin markets, where owners can purchase TV shows, series, and various other entertainment content using the Bitcoin their TV set has mined.

Bitcoinist explores the practical application of the technology. It appears that the digital currency mining can be compared to mining for 'reward points' that you can use for a market-allegedly Canaan Creative's own. It might not be true, but if it is, it could be a big deal breaker. It's not practical if you're looking to buy other things using what you earn from the television.

The chip inside the TV set is another tech that could be weird or cool. It could be impractical since it's not doing anything for the TV, other than help you earn Bitcoin through mining. It wouldn't do good against a model with 4K resolution unless someone manages to create a TV set that has both Bitcoin mining capabilities with quality resolution.

Cryptocurrencies, in general, have slowly been getting exposure in China. With the first blockchain getting bank investments, as well as the cryptocurrency, getting mainstream exposure in China, the time is ripe to continue this surge. China is looking to lead the way in next-generation technology, and with these TV sets, it could become the leader in creating Bitcoin-mining appliances. If this is the future, then the future could be arriving now.
