While "Red Dead Redemption 2" has enjoyed immense success since its release last month, the game is hardly perfect due to its massive scope sometimes making it hard to discover its many features. "Red Dead Online" takes both the best and worst things about the game while complicating matters by involving other gamers playing online.
IGN recently released a video detailing some of the quality-of-life features that go unnoticed by most players. Below are select "Red Dead Online" features discussed in the video that players can use to make their online experience easier.
-
Making a posse
Friends who want to play the "Red Dead Online" cooperative missions together will have to form a posse first. For more perks, a permanent posse can be created by paying a $200 admin fee using in-game currency.
In addition, a permanent posse also allows more players to join the group - growing a posse from a four-man team to a group of seven players. Players who create posses in "Red Dead Online" will be limited by the posse leader's unlocked story missions regardless if a team member has already progressed further.
-
Duels and Feuds
Players who have been singled out by "Red Dead Online" griefers can challenge their tormentors to a duel after being killed several times. If the griefing player still decides to hurt the target player, there is an option to parley which turns the target player invulnerable against the griefing player's attacks for at least 10 minutes.
-
Game mode shortcuts
"Red Dead Online" allows players to participate in different game modes through sign-posts. What the game does not say is that players can access the specific game mode they want to play through the map by selecting the sign post's location and queuing for the game mode. Players can also queue for a "Red Dead Online" game mode through the free roam menu accessible by pressing the left button on the directional pad.
-
Travel options
Players can still upgrade their camps in "Red Dead Online" to allow them to fast travel using the map but the option is only available to players level 65 and above. In addition, the fast travel option currently has a bug that removes any animal carcasses stored in a horse's inventory.
Horses also work differently in "Red Dead Online." While the single-player story allows players to tame wild horses they encounter, horses can only be purchased from stables in "Red Dead Online."
