China's efforts to sit on top of the rest when it comes to tech is no longer a secret. The country is one of the foremost pioneers when it comes to research and development of new technologies. However, as the country continues to climb the ranks, it has also become obvious that some of its closest adversaries are there to put a hurdle in the country's path.

Announced in 2015, China has been aggressively pushing its project dubbed simply as "Made in China 2025." As the name suggests, the country is aiming to be self-sufficient in terms of tech manufacturing and industry. What is even more ambitious about this project is the fact that China is working hard to shy away from the notion that "Made in China" products are rather subpar when it comes to quality.

As part of this "Made in China 2025" project, China recently announced that the country will pump billions of dollars in funding, especially to the research and development of tech industries like robotics and microprocessors.

In terms of hurdles, the most recent to flag China's effort is also the country's closest economic rival, the United States. The North American superpower is waging a campaign against Huawei, the Chinese tech giant that aims to build the world's first 5G mobile networks.

The negative economic repercussions brought upon by the bitter trade war against the United States have forced China to rethink its policies in order to achieve the points of its "Made in China 2025" project. Because of the economic pressure brought upon by tariffs on exports, China is now looking to prioritize its long-term goal rather than engage in a petty economic squabble.

Recently, China and the United States agreed to an economic truce. The truce has raised hopes that a deal between the two superpowers is under negotiations. Many market analysts have pondered that by engaging in the bitter trade war with the United States, China might be endangering its long-term strategy which is mainly rooted in the "Made in China 2025" project.

Last week, Beijing issued a list of priorities to local governments which many believe is the country's long-term plan. However, many were astonished to find out that there was no mention of "Made in China 2025" on the said priority list despite the fact that the project was mentioned in the previous version of the list two years ago. Many believe that China is holding hard to its flagship project that is it willing to be secretive about it.
