Is "The OA" season 2 ever going to see the light of day on Netflix? Fans have been waiting for the show's return since the streaming platform renewed the series nearly two years ago. Production actually rolled last January 2018 with some new and returning cast members but producers Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij still haven't released any teasers or clips for the upcoming installment.

Netflix's most unusual TV series is so wrapped up in a mystery that even the release of its second season has been such a big secret. But "The OA" actor Brandon Perea asked fans on Twitter just before the holidays to be patient with the show's return. He also said he's aware that Marling and Batmanglij have been working hard on the show's post-production every single day.

Last November, Marling confirmed on her Instagram that they've just completed the sound mix the second season. Given how the show is progressing, Netflix might be ready to make an announcement of "The OA" season 2 release date after the holidays and chart an early 2019 premiere.

In May, Deadline reported that Bria Vinaite has joined "The OA" season 2 for a recurring role. But as the show remains shrouded in secrecy, nobody knows the significance of the actress' addition to the series. Around the same period, "The OA" season 1 villain Jason Isaacs confirmed that he finished filming his scenes for the second season.

Meanwhile, Netflix Vice President Cindy Holland has already seen some early cuts of "The OA" season 2 and said that the new chapter is "fantastic." She's confident that fans of the series will not hold it against Marling and Batmanglij for the long delay because, apparently, the new season is worth the wait and the new story has a potential to go on for five more seasons.

Marling has quite a challenge on her lap because she's not just the show's executive producer. She's also the creator and writer, as well as the lead star. In addition to her many roles, Marling has planned this story as an original creation. There are no books to based it from so she's developing the narrative with Batmanglij from scratch.

"The OA" centers on a missing blind woman named Praire who suddenly turns up in her old neighborhood with her vision restored. No one can understand what happened to her but Praire, who calls herself the OA, found a group of people who listened to her tell a fantastic tale of what she's been through. Ultimately, the show dealt with the mysteries of the after-life and Praire's quest to find other missing people who have experienced the same things as her.
