People strive hard to sleep more than seven hours nightly, but this may be a problem for those whose partner snores loudly. Thankfully, there are ways to sleep through the disturbance.

Sleep is important for overall mental and physical health. It keeps us awake in the morning and active at work. Problems arise though when we cannot afford precious sleep at night because our partner has an awful bedside mannerism: snoring.

Snoring affects people regardless of age and gender and happens without them knowing that they snored through the night unless you tell them the day after. This is why, when it is time for bed, you may want to prepare yourself with various means to minimize the noise or find ways to sleep through the snoring.

One sure way is to sleep ahead of your partner. This stops you from waiting anxiously for them to fall asleep and begin snoring, which you know will only rub you of sleep. When you do wake up in the middle of your sleep and hear the snore, at least you already had a head start.

Next is ensuring that your partner sleeps with their head at an angle to clear nasal passage. This is done by using a wedge or anti-snore pillow or simply by propping up their pillows. This method prevents their tongue from falling back into the throat, which causes the snoring.

Moreover, when the snoring starts, try to wake and ask your partner to sleep on their side. If this is hard to do, you can try one unconventional method, and that is sewing a tennis ball to their pajamas or on the back of the shirt they sleep in. This keeps them lying on their side when they attempt to roll on their back and feel the discomfort from the bulge of the ball.

Another way to sleep next to a snoring partner is through the help of a white noise machine, which supposedly does wonders for people with insomnia. It drowns out any ambient sound of dogs barking, horns blaring, and even loud snoring. Likewise, using earplugs and snore strips such as Breath Right can help.

It is important to remember though that snoring is a medical condition. It should not be taken lightly since it could signal an underlying health concern such as sleep apnea. It is best to consult a doctor to address the root cause of the snore.
