"The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" season 3 has been active in production since January at the writers' room. The actual filming, however, will start in late March, after the cast and producers return from the Paleyfest in Los Angeles.

According to executive producer Dan Palladino, the target is to finish work on "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" season 3 by Hannukah 2019. This way, Amazon subscribers can binge-watch the new season for the holidays as they did with the first and second seasons.

Palladino also revealed via Glamour that they still want Zachary Levi's character, Benjamin, to be in "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" season 3. But they have to figure out a way to work with his schedule since March is also going to be a big time for the actor. Levi's DC superhero movie "Shazam" is going to be released during this time, so he's likely going to be quite busy promoting the film.

The writers are also going to have to come up with a great story for Benjamin in season 3. As the fiancé of Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan), they have to resolve the cliffhanger for season 2, where Midge decided to sleep with her ex-husband Joel (Michael Zegen) and jeopardize her relationship with Benjamin. Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino hinted that there's a good chance Benjamin might, in fact, be gay.

This doesn't mean, however, that Midge and Joel will give their marriage another try. At least that's not what Zegen thinks of his character's new storyline for season 3. Zegen said that Joel should also do his own thing just as Midge is figuring out what she's good at.  Midge will proceed with her tour with singer Shy Baldwin, as revealed in the second season.

Meanwhile, Deadline reports that the cast of "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" has been negotiating their pay raise for the third season with Amazon. The show has had much leverage since it premiered two years ago because it has won as Best Comedy Series at the Emmys and the Golden Globes in 2018. It has also won as Best Comedy Ensemble at the recent Screen Actors Guild Awards, and its stars -- Broshnahan, Alex Borstein and Tony Shalhoub -- have won best acting trophies at various awards shows.

"The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" season 1 and 2 continue to stream on Amazon Prime. The show also stars Kevin Pollak, Marin Hinkle, and Caroline Aaron. The Palladinos said that they are also preparing for the fourth season even as Amazon has not yet given the green light.
