"The Orville" season 2 has successfully filmed a mini-reunion with two of the stars of "Gossip Girl." Jessica Szorh confirmed that she had an on-screen and off-screen meet with Leighton Meester on "The Orville" and she could not be more excited about it.
Szorh told TV Line that she was pumped when she learned Meester would be appearing on her new show as a guest star. The said episode, however, will air much later in the season but Szorh said it is one of her favorites.
Meester's guest appearance was announced in July 2018 but her character's details were kept a secret. Szorh, however, confirmed that they will have scenes together, which has made her really happy since she doesn't get to see Meester enough outside of work.
The two stars worked together on "Gossip Girl" for four seasons. The series aired on The CW from 2007 to 2012. But Szorh departed earlier in the young adult drama series. Meester, on the other hand, stayed on until the final episode.
In "Gossip Girl," Meester played the bratty queen bee Blair Waldorf and Szohr was the girl next door, Vanessa Abrams. Their characters had a love-hate relationship that had them dating the same men in the series.
Meanwhile, Szohr also told TV Insider that she would probably be excited for a "Gossip Girl" reboot on the big screen. She thinks it will be interesting to find out what her character has been up to nearly 10 years after the series ended.
Szorh officially joined "The Orville" season 2 in its fifth episode as the Xeleyan chief security officer Lt. Talla Keyali. She replaced Halton Sage, who decided to drop out of the series.
"The Orville" producers, however, did not give an official reason for Sage's exit, who played Lt. Alara Kitan. But she was given a proper and emotional send-off in the fourth episode of the second season.
Meanwhile, Szorh said that she had discussions with "The Orville" creator and star Seth McFarlane (Capt. Ed Mercer) about joining the series in January 2018. The actress also hinted that there could be some flirtation happening between her and a series regular but there should be a twist in the storyline.
"The Orville" season 2 airs every Thursday at 9:00 p.m. on FOX. The show also stars Adrianne Palicki (Commander Kelly Grayson), Penny Gerald Johnson (Dr. Claire Finn), Peter Macon (Lt. Commander Bortus), Scott Grimes (Lt. Gordon Malloy), J. Lee (Lt. Commander John LaMarr and Mark Jackson as the robot Isaac.
