"Friends" star Matthew Perry caused millions of fans to worry about this present state. The actor, who has been opened about his struggles with addiction, revealed that he got kicked out of therapy on Feb. 6.
Perry opened up about the therapy incident in a single post on Twitter. Fans immediately expressed their worries and concern for the actor and the tweet generated over 30,000 reactions as of press time
Though the actor didn't elaborate what happened to him during therapy, Dr. Drew on E! shed some light on the possible reasons a therapist might need to kick out a patient during a session.
One, if the therapist feels that the patient isn't making an effort during the rehabilitation, then he might be asked to leave. A patient may also be kicked out for poor behavior, but he can return once his in a calmer state of mind.
The next day, Perry tweeted again that he's in therapy. He wrote, "Easy guys, it was just one session. I'm back in therapy where I belong."
The actor first went into rehab in 1997 after getting addicted to alcohol and prescription painkillers. In 2001, Perry checked himself to rehab again after his prescription addiction resurfaced after a jet ski accident.
Since this rehab stint, however, Perry said that he's been sober. In 2013, Perry testified in Congress on the opioid crisis and sought for better drug policies that would help addicts.
Perry also said in previous interviews that he was quite good at hiding his addiction even if he was working on a popular series. But the actor admitted it got so bad so fast for him and the only way to get better was to go to rehab and stay sober.
The actor also said that getting over an addiction is a long process. He pointed out that if you've been struggling with it for years, it won't take 28 days to cure it because staying sober must be an on-going effort.
Inspired by what he has seen and experienced in rehab, Perry has established his rehab facility called The Perry House in Santa Monica, California in 2013. However, the facility had to close down in 2015 after the actor admitted it was too costly to maintain.
Meanwhile, Perry currently has no projects in the pipeline. He last appeared on "The Good Fight" as Mike Kresteva. He also starred in short-lived series "Go On" and "The Odd Couple."
