"MacGyver" season 3 will be introducing the new addition to Team Phoenix in episode 15. Viewers can watch the episode unfold with Levy Train (Desiree Nguyen) as the recruit on Friday, Feb. 15, at 8:00 p.m. on CBS.
According to EconoTimes, Tran's character will still be a recurring addition. CBS is still apparently testing the waters of having a new character on the show along with confirming the series for a fourth season.
The upcoming episode will have a "surprising introduction" for Tran's character, according to the synopsis. Her main job is to protect Macgyver, played by Lucas Till, but the story will also feature Team Phoenix as protectors of a gun-sniffing dog with a bounty on its head. The episode will also feature Presilah Nunez and Ryan Czerwonko as guests.
Trans will also be in the next episode, airing Friday, Feb. 22. Team Phoenix's mission for this episode is to recover the body of a pilot whose plane crashed while testing a new laser mapping system. Billy Baldwin, Chad Michael Collins (Reese) and Rya Meyers will also guest star in this episode.
Tran was asked to join "Macgyver" season 3 after George Eads (Jack Dalton) announced in November that he's leaving the show. The actor wanted to spend more time with his young daughter in Los Angeles, but filming in Atlanta has been taking up his schedule.
Previously, Eads confessed to CBS that Till would call off production because he'd be an emotional wreck about missing his daughter. The co-stars, who have grown close since working together, would talk it out and confide their real-life struggles with each other.
But Eads' might not be completely gone on "Macgyver" though. Co-star Justin Hires (Bozer) thinks that the actor may be back on the set before viewers may even miss his character.
Hires said in an Instagram Live Q & A that while his co-star is technically leaving, he thinks that this is just a break for Eads. I wouldn't be surprised if he came back," Hires said.
"Macgyver" did write off Eads' character with a possibility of returning as a guest. In "Macgyver" season 3 episode 14, Jack was pulled out of Team Phoenix to head a new CIA task force that would track down terrorist Tiberius Kovacs.
"Macgyver" also stars Tristin Mays (Riley Davis) and Meredith Eaton (Matty) as series regulars. The show may have dropped in the ratings this season, but it's still popular with CBS' older audience in term of general viewership.
