"Bosch" season 5 is on schedule to return on Amazon Prime. Viewers of the cop series may expect all episodes of the forthcoming season to premiere in its usual release schedule this spring.

In November 2018, "Bosch" book author Michael Connelly confirmed that that season 5 finished filming its last episode on location at the Salton Sea after more than three months of production. He also revealed that the new installment will be based on his best-selling book about the character Bosch, "Two Kinds of Truth," which was published in 2017.

As the new story unfolds, "Bosch" season 5 will feature three fresh cast additions. Joining Titus Welliver as police detective Harry Bosch are Chris Vance, Ryan Hurst and Bianca Kajlich.

Vance will play Dalton Walsh, the head of an opioid drug ring syndicate and this season's main villain. The actor is best known for his roles in "Transporter: The Series" and "Burn Notice."

Hurst will play Hector Bonner, an investigator with ties to Honey Chandler (Mimi Rogers), who will help Bosch with his criminal cases this season, as per TV Line. Viewers may be familiar to Hurst's work in the series "Sons of Anarchy."

Kajlich, on the other hand, will play Christina Henry, who is looking into one of Bosch's old cases, which could spell trouble for the detective. The actress is most noted for her role in the shows "Rules of Engagement" and "Undateable."

Meanwhile, some of the cast members were recently at the SCAD aTVFest 2019 in Atlanta. Fans in attendance were treated to the viewing of "Bosch" season 5 episode 1 followed by a panel interview.

Welliver said that in five seasons of doing "Bosch" for Amazon, he has come to get used to the tighter schedule of shooting a TV show compared to a movie. He's proud that the series can authentically shoot on location and make its home base of Los Angeles the central character of the series.

Meanwhile, as they were filming "Bosch" season 5, the cast and crew received a good word from the studio. The show was once again picked up for a sixth season, according to Deadline. Amazon cited "Bosch" as its "customer and critical" favorite hence renewing the series for season 6 was a given.

"Bosch" season 6 is expected to be on the streaming platform in 2020 but for now, viewers can look forward to the fifth season's release soon. The show also Jamie Hector (Detective Jerry Edgar), Amy Aquino (Lt. Grace Billets), Madison Lintz (Maddie Bosch) and Lance Reddick (Deputy Chief Irvin Irving).
