Into the Badlands season 3 has finally received a return date from AMC. The upcoming episode, titled Widow vs. The Master, will air on Sunday, March 24, at 10:00 p.m. on the cable channel.
In announcing its return date, AMC also released the teaser to Into the Badlands season 3 episode 9. It shows The Widow (played by Emily Beecham) squaring it off with The Master (played by Chipo Chung).
The second half of Into the Badlands season 3 will pick up where it left off. In the midseason finale, which aired last June 2018, viewers finally saw The Master back after being missing for most of the season. She was seen meditating when she suddenly awakens to utter, "It has begun."
Next, viewers saw The Master confront The Widow in her war against Baron Chau (played by Eleanor Matsuura). She tells The Widow to stand down, or she might end up knocking her out. But as the teaser showed, an epic battle between two powerful forces will take place in Into the Badlands season 3 episode 9.
Meanwhile, fan theories speculate that MK (played by Aramis Knight) might finally find out the identity of his real mother and he won't have to look too far. The woman who has taken her into custody after losing Azra, the mother he knew, might be his real parent.
It's not farfetched that The Widow is MK's mom. The next installments of Into the Badlands season 3 will bring more attention to this storyline to properly wrap up some loose ends.
Unfortunately, AMC has decided to cancel Into the Badlands after season 3. However, Deadline reported that the move was not surprising since the cast members had been released from their contracts months ago hence they are free to take on other work.
It's expected that the third and final season, which consist of 16 episodes, will properly close the show without any cliffhangers. Into the Badlands executive producer Al Gough promised in a post on Twitter that fans of the series will be treated to a great ending.
Daniel Wu (Sunny) leads the cast of this martial arts post-apocalyptic drama that debuted on the cable channel on Nov. 15, 2015. The show also stars Nick Frost (Bajie), Orla Brady (Lydia), Lorraine Toussaint (Cressida), Ally Ioannides (Tilda), Sherman Augustus (Moon), Ella-Rae Smith (Nix), Babou Ceesay (Pilgrim) and Lewis Tan (Gaius).
