This year's biggest and brightest supermoon will brighten the sky on Tuesday. The second of the three supermoon events in the first three months of the year will mark the 50th anniversary of the first human landing on the moon, the Apollo 11 mission.
On Tuesday, the moon will appear unusually large when it rises and sets. The event is expected to attract the attention of amateur stargazers all over the world. The supermoon will shine brightly during this full moon since it is the time that it is closest to Earth. According to reports, the supermoon is at its most glorious on Tuesday morning at 10:54 a.m. ET. It is not, however, visible at that time and everyone needs to keep an eye out on the later part of the day.
The best moment to take pictures of the supermoon is during the moonrise since it gives dramatic scenery due to its closeness to the horizon. It is often referred as a "Moon illusion" because it gives out a deceptively large size because it is close to the horizon and it gives a climatic view when buildings and trees are scaled in front of it. It tricks the brain that the moon is closer to the objects than it really is.
The moon has different names depending on what it is associated in during the time. The lunar months which are associated with the changing season centuries ago rather than the solar year. According to The Old Farmer's Almanac, the Native Americans and the Europeans calls the month of February as the "Snow Moon" because it was the month with the heaviest amount of snowfall. It is also referred to as the bone or hunger moon because of the scarcity of food during the winter.
In 2018, a different event took place where there is no moon called the "Black Moon" took place in the month of February. The event occurs once within 19 years and when January and March have two full moons. This 2019, the super blood wolf moon took place in January where the moon had a remarkable red tinge and we are about to see five eclipses for the whole year. The next scheduled for the supermoon, in case that viewer misses the event on Tuesday, is on March 19 which is the last of the three supermoons visible at the start of the year.
