The relationship of Upton (played Tracy Spiridakos) and Ruzek (played by Patrick John Flueger) will be tested in Chicago PD season 6 episode 20. However, viewers will have to wait for how this will unfold since the show will be on a one-week break.
When the show returns on Wednesday, May 8, at 10:00 p.m. on NBC, however, Chicago PD season 6 episode 20 will have the police department dealing with a crew of violent thieves. They will apparently be targeting delivery trucks of drugstores to steal the drugs.
According to the episode synopsis, the goal for these thieves is not to make money. There's something complicated about this group that will test Upton and Ruzek's professional and personal relationship.
Upton and Ruzek's romance has been a big dividing factor for fans of Chicago PD since some are still hoping for Ruzek and Burgess (played by Marina Squerciati) to get back together. Spiridakos, however, understood the sentiments of the Burzek shippers given how Upton and Ruzek happened.
"The relationship between Upton and Ruzek, there wasn't a build to it," the actress told TV Line. "It just kind of happened, which I think was intentional. As it happened, I was interested to see what people were going to say about it."
Meanwhile, one of the main characters on Chicago PD has confirmed that he is leaving the series after season 6. Jon Seda announced his exit in a post on Twitter and thanked the fans of One Chicago for their support.
Seda was originally in the cast of Chicago Fire in 2012 until he became part of the spinoff in 2014. According to Deadline, producers of Chicago PD felt that his character had to be written off the show for creative reasons.
The actor actually briefly left Chicago PD when he joined the other spinoff Chicago Justice in 2017. That show, however, was canceled after one season hence Seda rejoined Chicago PD during the 2018-2019 season.
Meanwhile, after next week's episode, Chicago PD will have two more stories to air and then the show will be on a hiatus until the TV season re-opens for 2019 to 2020. Chicago PD also stars Amy Morton, Jason Beghe, Jesse Lee Soffer and LaRoyce Hawkins.
