Meghan Markle is speculated to be due to give birth today, but it doesn't look like she's set to welcome her first child with husband Prince Harry just yet. The expectant father was actually at the London Marathon to cheer on the athletes when he should have been by his wife's side if she has already given birth.
According to Spirit FM, Harry was spotted at the finish line to hand out some medals to the athletes who joined the annual event. Several people have also shared their photos with the prince on social media as he met with volunteers and congratulated the winners, including the marathoners from the World Para Athletics Championship.
"We know the baby is due, in fact, I can tell you that the due date is pretty much today," the Duke of Sussex said when asked about his wife's due date. "Today, tomorrow, we really are in the realms of imminent arrival."
Meanwhile, followers of the royal couple were alerted to another false alarm about Baby Sussex's arrival. The official Sussex Instagram account posted a picture of a smiling newborn, and everyone thought this was the birth announcement.
However, the caption of the photo revealed that the smiling baby was a random child at a hospital in India. The photo shared was actually of Countess Sophie who was visiting the country to check on premature babies as the Vice Patron of the Queen's Jubilee Trust. The royal family wanted to bring awareness to the issue of blindness in premature birth and thus used their social media platform for this purpose.
Prince Harry and Meghan have said to the press in early April that they will be announcing the baby's birth in their own time. Thus, there will be no photo opportunities just hours after the monumental occasion unlike the births of Prince William and Kate Middleton's children.
Since the Duke of Sussex is not in the direct line as heir to the throne, he and his family are not expected to follow royal protocols strictly. When Baby Sussex is born, the child will be the seventh in line to the throne and won't likely be wearing the crown.
Last October 2018, House Sussex confirmed that Meghan was with child after getting married in May of that same year. Her expected due date was revealed to be late April or early May.
