The annual E3 conference kicked off in California, which means several titles now have release dates, including the games from publisher Electronic Arts. EA revealed that FIFA 20 will be released on September 27 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The latest version of the beloved franchise is again offering multiple pre-order options and two of them provide early access.
Other than the early access, FIFA 20 will also offer a trial through EA Access and Origin access - a good thing, considering EA Access was only limited to Xbox users prior to this year. If you own a PlayStation, you can now subscribe to EA Access as well. Subscribers to the service will get to play the game in full beginning on September 19, which is a full eight days before the official release date.
More good news, street soccer is now back on the FIFA franchise for the first time since 2012, EA Sports revealed a new mode called Volta, which should bring small-sided play to FIFA 20, taking cues from the FIFA Street series launched more than a decade ago.
While we saw a glimpse of street football in FIFA 18, as part of The Journey campaign, this year's game will feature a fully fledged mode. In Volta, you can create your own character and play in cages and futsal pitches all around the world, including Tokyo, Amsterdam, and London. The teams will be composed of three-to-five players, which you can play with your custom character or professional players, and you'll have both story and league modes.
But there's more to FIFA 20 than Volta. For starters, EA Sports says it is once again focusing on raising the level of realism in the game. And if you've played FIFA the past few years on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 Pro or PC, then you know how real the game already looks and feels. Now you can expect some of that realism to be on Volta, as well, along with improved graphics on players likeness, stadiums and the overall atmosphere of matches.
And to those who care about the gender of their characters, you can make your character either male or female. Although, there is a great deal that can be done with this mode, and it will be interesting to learn about all of its moving parts leading up to the game's release.
