T.O.P may have been discharged already, but people are still talking about the day he completed his mandatory military service. The BIGBANG star made history when he opted to spend the moment with VIPs in a secret location for a fan meeting instead of facing the media.
It was previously reported that the fans coordinated with Yongsan Crafts Museum to make the trick possible. Other VIPs even gathered in front of YCM to make the media believe that T.O.P will be out soon. But there was no T.O.P. All they saw was a green tape and a mic.
The reality is that it was already planned that T.O.P would be meeting with the fans in a disclosed location, exiting a different door of the Yongsan Crafts Museum. But did the YCM slipped and said that the BIGBANG star would have a fan meet instead of facing the media?
Days before his discharge, a Facebook fan page dedicated to T.O.P shared (and now deleted) a note from Yongsan Crafts Museum regarding the early release of T.O.P. However, it appeared that they already hinted at the time that the 31-year-old rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and the actor would be meeting up with the fans after the completion of his compulsory duty.
“T.O.P will not hold other event ceremonies to avoid troubles around the craft hall,” Yongsan Crafts Museum wrote. “But to express gratitude to the fans who have been waiting for a long time, they will give simple greetings to fans after completing work. It is good news for fans who are looking forward to the discharge of T.O.P.”
Fortunately, the media may have missed the message, or if they read it, they didn’t understand what it meant. But for fans, it was clear to them what the note meant as they were the ones who planned the whole thing.
While VIPs didn't explain the reason behind the idea, it is safe to presume that they did it to protect T.O.P from the media. The BIGBANG star was previously involved in a marijuana scandal, and reporters will for sure question him about it after his discharge.
To avoid this negativity, fans probably thought that it would be best for T.O.P to not face the media, and be with the people who love and care for him. As it turns out, it was a pretty good and successful plan.
