Cagatay Ulusoy, the star of The Protector as Hakan, acknowledges that he's quite lucky to be part of a novelty show. He's currently working on The Protectorseason 3 and detailed some of his work experience working in a Netflix series.

The actor spoke with Variety about how The Protector is changing Turkish television. He also confirmed that the show would be back for a fourth season.

"Netflix uses a different production system. We work just 10 hours a day, five days a week. I feel more productive, and so do the other talents and the crew," Ulusoy said, adding that a typical Turkish drama is 120 to 150 minutes long. "With this show, a lot is changing in terms of the approach to storytelling, locations, characters, and also working conditions. It's like the rules of the game are being rewritten."

The Protector is a superhero fantasy drama, which is not quite common to a Turkish audience, but this genre is what the global audience wants. Ulusoy said that the plot development of The Protector is also fast-paced and full of twists while there's comedy spliced in some of the scenes to balance everything.

Netflix has not yet revealed when The Protector season 3 will be launched. The first two seasons, however, are on the platform for its global viewers, with season 2 released last April 2019.

Fans were concerned initially that Netflix won't renew the show after it ended with a cliffhanger.  However, a report from Beyazperde confirmed that The Protector scored a third and fourth season renewal.

According to Digital Spy, while Hakan is sure to return it's still unclear if the rest of the stars will be back for The Protector season 3, especially Hazar Ergüçlü (as Zeynep) who was shot in the final scenes. Fans, however, expect to see Okan Yalabık (as Faysal), Ayça Ayşin Turan (as  Leyla) and Mehmet Kurtuluş as Mazhar reprise their roles.

The Protector follows an ordinary man (Hakan) who learns that he has a connection to a secret order whose main duty is to protect the city. This is a family legacy that he learned to embrace with guidance from Zeynep and her father.

The first season dealt with Hakan discovering his duty as the protector and receiving training from the Loyal Ones. The second season offered a more developed storyline with Hakan's relationship with Zeynep.
