The 100 season 7 will be the final run. The CW announced during the Television Critics Association event that the show would be ending along with its other long-running series like Supernatural and Arrow for the 2019-2020 season.

Showrunner Jason Rothenberg also posted a confirmation on Twitter that The 100 season 7 will be its last. The CW renewed the series last April, some weeks before the sixth season premiere.

"We are eternally grateful to WB & CW for always allowing us to tell our story the way we want to & to wrap the show on our terms," Rothenberg posted. "What an incredible ride this has been!"

The 100 is based on the novels written by Kass Morgan, who also posted her appreciation for the network in taking a chance on her story. Morgan also thanked Rothenberg and the series cast for their work.

"It was a privilege to watch my space delinquents go on such extraordinary adventures with you," she wrote.

The 100 takes place in a post-apocalyptic world following a nuclear war that made the Earth inhabitable. The survivors of the war lived in the Ark in space which has become overcrowded.

A group of humans was sent down to Earth once again to see if it has changed and redeveloped. Not only do they discover that the Earth has become habitable again but that there have been people on the surface. The survivors have then formed different groups and factions to fight against each other as they try to rebuild a new civilization.

The 100 season 6, on the other hand, triggered a reboot for the show where a group has found a new planet much like Earth to inhabit. Headed by Clarke (played by Eliza Taylor), this current season has been brutal on the survivors as the main characters came face-to-face with new enemies known as the Primes.

The Primes in The 100 season 6 can make themselves immortal by taking over the consciousness of a host body. The finale of The 100 season 6, which is set to air on Tuesday, Aug. 6, could find many of the characters dying, including some of the favorites.

The 100 season 7 is expected to begin its run on The CW in April 2020.
