Filming for Agents of SHIELD season 7 is finally over. The superhero show on ABC has no confirmed premiere date yet, but fans expect that the series will wrap up its final season on television by the summer of 2020.
The cast and crew of Agents of SHIELD season 7 confirmed that their work is done by posting emotional goodbyes and throwback photos on social media. According to TV Line, showrunners Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon, as well as the cast made sure that they won't post spoiler photos, but they did not hold back in expressing their feelings for the end of the show.
"I'm not okay," star Ming-Na Wen (as May) posted on Twitter during their last day on the set. "How is it that I'm numb and yet so emotional?"
"After 7 years, damn my heart is feeling all kinds of crazy right now," star Chloe Bennet (as Daisy) also posted on her account.
In March, the showrunners were still confident that Agents of SHIELD season 7 would not be its last. However, Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb confirmed a few months later at the San Diego Comic-Con that this upcoming season will be the final installment.
Agents of SHIELD season 7 will have 13 episodes, and Loeb said in an interview with Deadline that they couldn't be more pleased with the chance to close the story properly. The truth was they thought ABC would pull the plug on this Marvel show a long time ago.
Apart from Wen and Bennet, also expected to return be in Agents of SHIELD season 7 are Clark Gregg (as Phil Coulson), Iain de Caestecker (as Fitz), Elizabeth Henstridge (as Simmons), Natalia Cordova-Buckley (as Yo-Yo) and Jeff Ward (as Deke).
According to Screen Rant, based on the Agents of SHIELD season 6 finale, the team will have to deal with the Cronicoms in the last season. This alien race has plans of settling on Earth bu they need to thwart the SHIELD to carry this out plan.
The Agents of SHIELD season 6 finale showed a time travel element that will also be carried over in the seventh season. Agents of SHIELD season 7 will begin in New York City in the 1930s. It's unclear, however, how long this timeline will play out in the upcoming season.
ABC will likely announce the premiere date for Agents of SHIELD season 7 sometime this fall.
