Being in the group for over a decade, G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung, and Seungri became more than just groupmates, they have become brothers. And just like most siblings, the boys have a deep love and care for each other.
While G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung, and Seungri have a great bond, it is also given that they each have their own set of friends, which is pretty normal. However, it seems that the older boys are not too pleased with Seungri’s new pals.
During their 2016 interview on Radio Star, the BIGBANG boys shared about their lives as artists and friends. They talked about G-Dragon, T.O.P, and Daesung going to dinner with Taeyang and his wife, Min Hyo-rin except for Seungri.
That’s when they shared that their maknae didn’t eat meals with them anymore. “He’s a singer and also a businessman. Normally, we’re so tired and sweated a lot after each concert. Therefore, we’ll find a place to have a meal together, but Seungri always had other appointments,” G-Dragon explained.
The BIGBANG leader then asked Seungri how many contacts he had in his directory, the latter then replied that he had 1200 contacts in South Korea alone. If you add his foreign contacts, his directory had nearly 3,200 numbers. Understandably, the show’s host was shocked by this revelation.
T.O.P then reminded Seungri that they were not like this in their earlier years. He pointed out that the reason why they met each other is because of their passion for music, and not because of money.
The BIGBANG rapper then shared that he’s not happy with Seungri’s new friends. “In our concert, I saw his acquaintances, and I felt [they] did not like Seungri as his nature. They just focused on his business card to approach him. Moreover, Seungri is also doing business with them, so I worry for him more,” T.O.P said.
While the older boys are not prohibiting Seungri from making new friends outside their group or YG Entertainment, they just want him to choose good people, those who like him for who he is and not because of his fame.
As it turns out, the G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, and Daesung’s concern were valid. Seungri is now facing seven charges including solicitation of prostitution and prostitution mediation, occupational embezzlement of Burning Sun funds, and violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes.
