Harvey Specter and Donna Paulsen, also known as "Darvey" to Suits season 9 fans, have made their romantic relationship official. But despite the two finally coming clean about their feelings for each other, actress Sarah Rafferty (as Donna) doesn't believe her character will end up walking down the aisle with Harvey (played by Gabriel Macht).
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Rafferty said that there would be no wedding for Harvey and Donna but not because Suits season 9 has shorter episodes. The reason doesn't have to do with time constraints but has a lot to do with the whole being of who Donna is.
"I do not think Donna's end is getting the guy. That's not the story that I think we're telling," the actress said. "They've walked side by side all along in one way or another," she added. "At the end of it, it will perhaps be that they walk side by side into their future lives, which may have different career paths."
The headstrong Donna has been Harvey's assistant at work and a good friend outside of the firm. They've had brushes of romantic moments in the past seasons, but it wasn't until Suits season 8 that the writers developed this big storyline about their feelings for each other.
But in Suits season 9 episode 4, Donna will be faced with a challenging decision to break up with Harvey or risk losing her job in the firm. As seen in the preview video, Faye (played by Denise Crosby) is forcing her to decide on her relationship versus her career, but Donna seems determined to keep both intact.
Elsewhere in Suits season 9 episode 4, Harvey is preparing to impress Donna's father. Macht admitted to Entertainment Weekly that he wasn't initially on board the idea of Donna and Harvey becoming a couple, but he's saying a different tune now by believing that the characters are meant to be.
Meanwhile, the cast of Suits season 9 will soon be working on the finale episode. Amanda Schull (as Katrina Bennet) confirmed in a post on Instagram that they recently had a table read for the last episode and it won't be long before they finally wrap up the series.
Suits season 9 is expected to air its series finale on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 9:00 p.m. on USA Network.
