However, a new report claims that George and Amal Clooney’s marriage might be in trouble because of the actor’s alleged excessive spending habits. The headline of Star magazine read, “George’s Wild Spending Sprees.”
While it’s mostly the women who spend a lot of cash in things like clothes, purses, and shoes, this is not the case in the Clooney household. A source of the tabloid alleged that Amal is not too pleased with George when it comes to spending money.
“He thinks nothing of dropping tens of thousands at a time on designer suits, jewelry, antiques. It’s gotten way out of control and Amal’s grossed out by it,” the insider claimed. “[He’s] so used to his Hollywood-type girlfriends demanding nothing but luxury over the years, he assumed Amal would require the same.”
Being a proud humanitarian, Amal allegedly feels that George’s “out of touch with the real world” spending ways is “off-brand with her life’s work.” The tipster even claimed that the 41-year-old Lebanese-British barrister had enough of her husband’s lavish spending that she is considering to control the actor’s habit by giving him a limited allowance.
However, Gossip Cop quickly slammed the allegations, noting that there is no truth to the claims. The site personally reached out to George Clooney’s camp, who called the Star magazine story “garbage” and “obviously not true.”
Gossip Cop also pointed out that if the story was true, it didn’t make sense at all. Star magazine claimed that George Clooney spent a lot of money because that's what he thought Amal wanted. If this is the case, Amal would have stopped him a long time ago because the story said that she’s “grossed out” by this.
Also, George Clooney is known to be a simple man. His go-to accessory is his wedding ring and sometimes a watch. The Star insider noted that he spends a lot of money on jewelry, and there is no proof of that.
Although George and Amal Clooney have an art collection, the lawyer pointed out in an interview with Vogue back in 2018 that it has a low value that insurance appraiser didn’t even think that they needed to get a policy for it.
