The Handmaid's Tale season 3 episode 13 is arriving next week, and this will be the season finale of the series. The finale sees June Osborne planning to help the children of Gilead escape; will she be successful doing her plan?
In the penultimate episode, viewers witnessed the aftermath of Fred's arrest in Canada, as well as the tragic death of Eleanor. The episode also hints that June is planning to get the children out of Gilead, and she'll make it possible in the upcoming episode.
The recently released trailer of The Handmaid's Tale season 3 episode 13 showed what would be the main focus of the season finale, in which June comes up with a plan to help the children escape the dystopian state. In the clip, June and the Marthas are preparing for their escape in Lawrence's kitchen.
The details of their plan have been revealed as June narrates ho they could make their plan possible. She told the Marthas that they would move in darkness and she'll get the children to the airport. However, the plan doesn't seem to go smoothly as Commander Lawrence announces a hitch. He told June that the district OP would set up a search, but the latter replied that Lawrence isn't in charge - because she is.
This is a powerful moment as most viewers want to see June's rebellious and authoritative side throughout the third season. It seems like she goes through with her plan since the trailer ends, showing the children running onto the woods covered in darkness. Yet, someone probably revealed the details of the plan as a gunshot echoed in the forest.
Viewers will find out in the season finale whether or not June finally made it to Canada with the children in tow. There were also other questions left in the penultimate episode that needed to be answered. For instance, the look between June and Lawrence at the end of episode 12 left fans nervous, as the latter might know something about her role in Eleanor's death.
If ever, that could only mean there will be a confrontation coming between these two characters in the season finale. Also, there could be a dramatic cliffhanger as the season ends, but the good news is The Handmaid's Tale was renewed for a fourth season.
