Parker Schnabel might have not yet moved on to mine in his own land in Gold Rush season 10. After vowing last season that he won't be taking home commissions any longer, Parker could still be working for Tony Beets in the upcoming installment.
A recent feature on the miner in The Times indicated that Parker might be "leasing" from Tony. Although, Discovery has been promoting Gold Rush season 10 with the angle that Parker has been working on his land.
Yet one of the promos for Gold Rush season 10, which may be viewed here, also hints that Minnie Beets, Tony's wife, was not able to file a water license before filming the series. Thus, Tony's team was not able to mine.
Tony was also shown in the extended sneak peek on Discover Go telling Parker that he can mine on the land where the latter has his water license. The clip suggested that Tony could still be Parker's landlord for this show's latest installment since the Beets crew has to sit out this job for a while.
Meanwhile, The Times article also highlighted the fact that Parker, at his young age, was able to mine gold worth $25 million. However, the worker with a decade of experience to his name said that this isn't the career he would like to settle into in the future.
He spoke about perhaps starting a marijuana farm if gold mining is no longer what he wants to do. In the immediate future, however, Parker revealed that he plans to take a vacation and not move dirt for a while.
Discovery confirmed the return of Gold Rush season 10 last September. In a press release, the cable network promised that this upcoming show would feature new challenges, new crews, and new claims but old favorites like Parker, Tony, and Rick Ness would still be around.
Gold Rush season 10 will open with a crisis about water permits, while more prospectors rush to Klondike following the news that the price of gold has risen. With these changes, miners in this reality TV show are forced to change strategies or play a gamble in the hopes of changing their fortune.
Gold Rush season 10 will begin airing on Friday, Oct. 11 on Discovery.
