Legacies season 2 finally premiered on The CW on Thursday, Oct. 10, but it felt like a completely different world. After Hope (played by Danielle Rose Russell) seemingly vanished in last season's finale, she returned to Mystic Falls, but no one recognized her.
Worse, she witnessed Josie (played by Kaylee Bryant) and Landon (played by Aria Shahghasemi) kissing. Will this lead to a love triangle even when they have no memory of her?
Showrunner Julie Plec said, in an interview, with Entertainment Weekly that, indeed, there will be a relationship triangle moving forward with Legacies season 2. She said that Josie and Langdon have that rich connection. However, they do not know that it will affect Hope in a big way.
While Josie and Landon might seem like an unlikely pair, Plec told TV Line that it felt natural for them to come together in Legacies season 2. Langdon needed someone to look out for him, and there's Josie, who is everyone's protector.
The next few episodes of Legacies season 2 will continue to be challenging for Hope because she's still erased from everyone's memory. She has no game plan, but she has a choice: make people remember her or get on with her life the way it is now and let everyone be happy or oblivious to the dangers around them.
Meanwhile, Legacies season 2 will also see the return of Alaric (played by Matt Davis) in Mystic Falls High, per the episode synopsis. This time, he's got a better job as the new school principal, and his new bearded look will be on his face for a while.
At the Salvatore School, on the other hand, the students will have a new headmaster in Legacies season 2. Alexis Denisof will guest star as Professor Vardemus. But, will their stints be short-lived?
Alaric has an affinity to Salvatore School, but being in Mystic Falls High makes him closer to his daughters. He can also educate more of the kids and ensure they are safe.
Fans of Legacies season 2, on the other hand, are looking forward to Freya [played by Riley Voelkel) coming back to Mystic Falls. Will this help Hope have a semblance of a normal life with a family member recognizing her? Hope isn't the one who will track down Freya, though. Someone curious about Hope will be looking for her after seeing Hope's pictures all over Rousseau.
Legacies season 2 airs every Thursday at 9:00 p.m. on The CW.
