While it appears that things have been easy for Kate Middleton's transition to the royal family, one fan said that it wasn’t the case at all. She shared that the Duchess of Sussex also dealt with the things that Meghan Markle is currently facing.
One netizen took to the online forum Quora to ask, “Did Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge have as tough a transition into being accepted as a Duchess as Meghan, Duchess of Sussex did? Why or why not?” One fan then replied that the wife of Prince William experienced a “horrific treatment” from many Britons.
“They accused and ridiculed her and her mother for stalking and chasing William, claiming Carole began training Kate to ensnare Will when she was in boarding schools,” she said. “Then there was the deliberate pose to wear the see-through dress, even down to how she walked to entice him. Then came the sleeping together part. They claimed she was unsavory because she wasn’t a virgin like Diana, that no self-respecting girl would do that and think she can marry a future king.”
Royal fans are brutal. If they don’t like you, they don’t like you — there’s no budging. Although Kate Middleton receives a lot of love right now, she certainly didn’t have a free pass when she dated Prince William.
The fan added that when Prince William and Kate Middleton broke up and made up, she was criticized for it, claiming that she embarrassed Queen Elizabeth. Rumors of her not being liked by the royal family members also circulated online.

Meghan came in a mature woman, self-made, independent, could speak in front of Parliament with no problem and no notes,” the fan noted. “Kate has led a quieter life without doing those things, and yet they expected her to be erudite, poised, and confident, and when she wasn’t, they really stuck it to her.”
